I'm giving packaging away

Stories from PackoLoopo

Who gave what away and who it helped. Real situations in which packaging went to someone who needed it instead of into the bin.

  • Pallets · Ożarów Mazowiecki, Poland

Two pallets that could not go in the bin

Konrad from Ożarów Mazowiecki had two pallets he could not put out with the rubbish. He was supposed to take them to the municipal recycling point in Umiastów, but its opening hours did not suit him and a pallet would not fit in his car. He posted a listing on PackoLoopo. Robert, a young entrepreneur, stopped by on his way and took both.

    What they gained

    • Konrad: got rid of the pallets without a trip to the recycling point or a van
    • Robert: spent 3 minutes on his route and got two pallets, including a EUR pallet worth about PLN 50 net
  • Cardboard boxes · Neighbours

    Moving boxes from the neighbour

Wiktoria, a student, was getting ready to move. She wanted to buy boxes, but they turned out to be very expensive. On PackoLoopo she found a listing from her neighbour Magdalena, who shops online a lot and ends up with many parcel boxes.

    What they gained

    • Magdalena: freed up space at home, and the boxes stayed out of the bin
    • Wiktoria: saved money and had the boxes right away, a few steps from home
  • Egg cartons · Eggs from Podlasie, Poland

The egg cartons that made the eggs possible

Krzysztof wanted to bring fresh eggs from a free-range farm in Podlasie, but he had thrown away his last egg cartons, and the farmer does not hand out eggs without them. On PackoLoopo he quickly found several listings nearby with egg cartons to give away and made it before his trip.

    What they gained

    • The givers: their egg cartons went back into use instead of the bin
    • Krzysztof: brought home fresh eggs without buying new packaging

Used packaging: a short guide

PackoLoopo is a free exchange platform for used packaging with local pickup. Businesses and private people give away cardboard boxes, jars, egg cartons, pallets and crates, and people nearby book a pickup time and collect them themselves. Below are answers to the questions people ask most when giving away or looking for packaging.

How do I give away used boxes for free?

Post a listing on PackoLoopo: take a photo, give the quantity, sizes and the hours when the boxes can be collected, and set the price to 0. Someone nearby books a pickup and comes in the chosen slot. You do not ship or pack anything.

  1. Fold the boxes flat and tie them with string or tape.
  2. Put the type and number in the title, e.g. “Moving boxes, 20 pcs”.
  3. Give the size of the largest boxes and the board ply (single, double wall).
  4. Choose pickup hours that really suit you.

Where can I get free moving boxes near me?

The easiest source is someone who has just finished moving, or a shop or wholesaler that receives goods in boxes every day. On PackoLoopo, enter your town or click “Near me”, tick “Free” and choose Cardboard boxes. Results show the distance from you.

Who is PackoLoopo for?

For businesses with a regular packaging surplus: shops, wholesalers, bakeries, restaurants, warehouses and small online shops. A listing can be marked as recurring, so after pickup it comes back as a new batch.

For private people after a move, a renovation or a furniture delivery, and for those looking for packaging: home preservers, hen keepers, allotment gardeners, people sending parcels and DIY fans.

How much does used packaging cost on PackoLoopo?

Using PackoLoopo is free and we take no commission. The price for the whole lot is set by the person giving it away: 0 (free) or a small amount you settle at pickup. Never pay anything in advance. Booking a pickup costs nothing.

Is pickup safe and who sees my address?

On the map we show a point moved 60–150 m from the pickup place. Only the person who booked the pickup sees the exact address and directions. Listings that break the rules can be reported with the “Report” button, and every report is reviewed by a person.

Why give packaging away instead of throwing it out?

In the EU waste hierarchy, reuse ranks above recycling (Directive 2008/98/EC). A box, jar or pallet that someone uses again stays out of the bin, and someone else does not have to buy new. When packaging can no longer be used, recycle it according to your local sorting rules.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I get free moving boxes near me?

On PackoLoopo choose Cardboard boxes, tick “Free” and set your area. You will see boxes from people who have just moved and from shops with a surplus. You book a pickup time and collect them yourself.

What can I do with boxes after moving?

Post them on PackoLoopo with the price set to 0. Someone nearby collects them in the hours you choose. Put wet or damaged boxes in the paper recycling, and take large amounts to your local recycling centre.

Where can I donate empty glass jars?

Clean, empty jars are wanted by home preservers, beekeepers and small producers. Post a listing in Jars and glass with the capacity and lid diameter. Jars nobody wants belong in the glass recycling, not next to the bin.

Where can I get free pallets?

Businesses, building sites and warehouses often give pallets away. On PackoLoopo choose Pallets and tick “Free”. Listings state the type, grade and whether the pallet has the IPPC mark, which matters for export and for heat-treated wood.

Who takes used egg cartons?

Hen keepers and farms that sell eggs reuse clean cartons: post them in the Egg cartons category. Moulded pulp cartons nobody wants go into paper recycling, plastic ones into plastic recycling.

Is PackoLoopo free?

Yes. Posting listings and booking pickups is free and PackoLoopo takes no commission. If the person giving the packaging away sets a price, you settle it directly at pickup.

Can a business give away its packaging surplus regularly?

Yes. Create a business account and mark the listing as recurring (every week, every 2 weeks or every month). After a pickup is confirmed, the listing returns as a new batch without being added again.

Which countries does PackoLoopo work in?

PackoLoopo works across the European Union and in Norway. Prices are in the currency of the country where the pickup is, and pickup hours are in its time zone. The site is available in 15 languages: English, Polish, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Czech, Slovak, Lithuanian, Ukrainian, Swedish, Danish, Finnish and Norwegian.

Have packaging piling up?

Posting a listing takes about two minutes. Someone nearby may collect it today.
