Tips: preparing packaging and safe pickup
Well-prepared packaging finds a new home faster, and a few simple rules protect your data and your safety. Most important: remove labels with personal data and, if you can, leave the packaging out for a contact-free pickup.
Why remove labels and stickers?
A shipping label shows your name, address, phone number and tracking number – remove it before giving the box away. That is all a scammer needs to pose as a courier or an online shop.
- Tear or cut off courier and postal labels, order-number stickers, barcodes and parcel QR codes.
- If a label will not come off, black it out with a thick marker or cover it with tape so that no name, address or phone number can be read.
- Look inside: take out and destroy invoices, receipts, delivery notes and slips with your address.
- Remove personal labels from jars (e.g. preserves labelled for someone) – soaking them in warm water is enough.
How to prepare packaging for giving away?
Packaging should be clean, dry and ready to be taken in one go.
- Boxes: fold them flat, sort them by size and tie them into bundles with string or tape.
- Jars: wash, dry and pack them in a box or crate; put the lids separately in a bag.
- Egg cartons: only clean and dry, with no egg residue or mould; stack them.
- Pallets and crates: remove protruding nails and splinters, do not give away broken ones.
- In the listing, be honest about the condition, any dirt and whether the packaging is suitable for food.
Contact-free pickup: leave packaging outside your door or by the fence
We recommend leaving the packaging outside your door, in the stairwell, by the gate or fence during the agreed pickup window. You do not have to open the door or meet a stranger.
- In the pickup note, say exactly where you will leave it, e.g. “by the gate, on the left”.
- Protect it from rain and wind: a bag, plastic sheet or roof overhang.
- Do not block escape routes, pavements or driveways; in a shared stairwell leave it only briefly and with your neighbours’ or building manager’s consent.
- Do not leave anything nearby that you are not giving away – the person collecting will take everything in the agreed spot.
- After the pickup, confirm it on the site so the listing disappears from the map.
Safety and caution during pickup
Keep contact to a minimum and never pay or share payment details before the pickup.
- Do not let strangers into your flat or house; the handover takes place outside.
- If you need to meet, do it in daylight, in a visible place, ideally with another person present.
- Never share payment codes, card details or passwords, and do not click links to a “courier”, “payment” or “receive money” page – PackoLoopo never asks for this.
- Only the person with a reservation sees the exact pickup address – do not put it in the description or messages beforehand.
- Carry heavy pallets and crates with gloves and two people; keep an eye on children and pets during the pickup.
- Something looks suspicious? Click “Report” on the listing page – we review every report.
Tips for people collecting
Arrive in the chosen window, take everything from the agreed spot and confirm the pickup.
- Check that the packaging will fit in your car – the listing shows the vehicle needed.
- Do not enter the property without the giver’s clear permission.
- Wash and sterilise jars and food containers before use.
- Cannot make it? Cancel the reservation so someone else can collect.
